How to download an Instagram video in 3 steps
Copy the link
In Instagram, tap the paper plane icon (Share) and Copy link.
Tap Paste
The search starts on its own.
Download
Tap Download video, the photo or the audio.
What you can download
Reels, videos, photos and carousels from public profiles, plus the audio as MP3. Stories, Highlights and private accounts aren’t supported.
Carousels and audio
In a carousel, every photo and video gets its own button, in the post’s order. To save only the sound of a video, tap Download audio: the file comes as MP3. More on the photo downloader and Reels downloader pages.
Where the file goes
Each device saves it in a different place. On iPhone, the file goes to the Files app, not to Photos.

File quality
You get the best quality Instagram serves for that post, with no conversion or upscaling. When Instagram reports the resolution, the list tags the video HD if its shorter side is at least 720 pixels, or SD if it’s smaller. Sometimes a second, lighter SD option appears, handy for sending in a chat.
Photos come at the size Instagram stores, at most 1080 pixels wide, and the audio comes as MP3. There’s no 4K: Instagram doesn’t serve posts at that resolution, and no tool can add detail that isn’t in the file.
When it doesn’t work
- The post is private or deleted. The tool only reads public posts. Open the link in a private browser window: if Instagram asks you to log in to see it, the tool can’t reach it either.
- Nothing happens when you tap Download video. You’re probably in Instagram’s built-in browser, which often blocks downloads. Tap the three dots in the corner, open the page in your browser and download from there.
- The links have expired. Download links last about 15 min. After that, tap Get new links.
- The download stops halfway. It’s almost always the connection. Switch to Wi-Fi and get new links.
What we keep
We don’t keep videos, photos or audio: the file goes to your device with no copy on our servers. There’s no account, and the site never asks for your Instagram password.
Public post data, like the author and caption, can stay in our cache for up to 12 hours, with no link to you, so we don’t fetch the same post from Instagram again. Access logs (IP address, date, time and port) are deleted after 30 days. The privacy policy has the details.
Responsible use and removal
Download your own posts, or other people’s for personal use, like saving a recipe or a class to watch offline. Before you repost someone else’s video, ask for permission and credit the creator.
Rights holders, and people who appear in a post, can ask us to block a link or a whole profile on the content removal page. We reply within 2 business days. The block applies to our tools only: to take the post down, report it to Instagram too.
