Instagram Reels downloader

Paste the link to a public Reel. Save the video as MP4 or keep only the audio.

Free, no sign-up, and no copy kept on our server.

How to download a Reel in 3 steps

  1. Copy the Reel's link

While the Reel plays, tap the paper plane icon on the right side and choose Copy link.

  2. Tap Paste

The search starts on its own. If you prefer, paste the link in the box and tap Download.

  3. Pick your file

Your files lists the video and the audio. Tap Download video.

A Reel link looks like instagram.com/reel/ followed by a code. Links copied from the app often end in ?igsh= and a string of letters, and you can leave that part in. The same steps work for feed videos and for posts with photos, which have their own page, the photo downloader.

Instagram’s download button or this tool

The Instagram app has its own option for saving Reels from public accounts. It sits in the share menu of the iPhone and Android apps, saves one version of the video to your phone’s gallery, and isn’t available on a computer.

PegaClip covers a few other cases:

  • it works in any browser, including on a computer;
  • it offers the HD file and, when Instagram has one, a lighter SD copy;
  • it can save only the audio, as MP3.

If you’re already in the app on your phone and just want a Reel in your gallery, Instagram’s own option is the quickest. It only shows up when the creator allows downloads, and the saved Reel is for personal use.

Reels with music

A downloaded Reel keeps the sound exactly as it was posted, music included. That music is usually licensed to play inside Instagram, not to be reused somewhere else. Putting it in your own video, on Instagram or on any other platform, can violate the rights of the artist and the label, even for a few seconds.

PegaClip saves the audio of a post, not songs. Links to a Reels audio page (the page that lists every Reel using a sound) and links from music services are refused, with a message saying so. To use a song in a Reel of your own, add it from Instagram’s audio library while you edit.

Where the file goes

Each device saves it in a different place. On iPhone, the file goes to the Files app, not to Photos.

Where the Reel is saved

  • iPhone: Safari saves the MP4 in the Files app, under Downloads. Open it, tap the share icon and choose Save Video to send it to Photos. Step by step in the iPhone guide.
  • Android: Chrome saves it in the Download folder, and it shows up in Google Photos and in your gallery app. See the Android guide.
  • Computer: your browser’s Downloads folder.

The file name is instagram- followed by the Reel’s code, the letters and numbers after /reel/ in the link. The SD copy ends in -sd, and the audio keeps the same name with .m4a or .mp3 at the end.

When a Reel won’t download

  • The account is private. Only public Reels work, and the screen says the post couldn’t be found.
  • The Reel was deleted, or Instagram limits it to adults. Same message. Try opening the link in a private browser window: if Instagram asks you to log in to watch it, the tool can’t reach it either.
  • You copied a Story. A Reel shared to someone’s Story gets a Story link, which isn’t supported. Open the Reel itself and copy its link.
  • Instagram is blocking our server. When many links fail at once, the screen says Instagram is unstable, and we switch off the ad next to the tool until it’s fixed. Waiting a few minutes usually solves it.
  • The Reel has no sound. Some Reels are posted silent. They come with Download video only, with no Download audio.

Privacy and rights

We don’t keep the Reels you download: each file goes from Instagram to your device without a copy on our servers. Reposting another creator’s Reel needs their permission, and credit in the caption. Creators and rights holders can ask us to block a Reel or a whole profile on the content removal page, and the privacy policy covers everything else.

Frequently asked questions

How do I copy a Reel's link?

While the Reel plays, tap the paper plane icon on the right and choose Copy link. On a computer, open the Reel on instagram.com and copy the address from the browser bar.

Does it work with Reels from private accounts?

No. PegaClip only works with public posts, so a Reel from a private account can’t be found by the tool.

Can I download Reels on a computer?

Yes. Paste the link in any desktop browser and the MP4 goes to your Downloads folder. Instagram’s own option for saving Reels is only in the phone apps.

Will the downloaded Reel have sound?

Yes, the sound comes exactly as it was posted, music included. Reels posted without sound stay silent, and their file list has no Download audio button.

What quality is the downloaded Reel?

The largest file Instagram serves for that Reel. It’s tagged HD when it’s at least 720 pixels on the short side, and a lighter SD copy appears when Instagram has one.

Can I save only the audio as MP3?

Yes. Tap Download audio to save an MP3, which plays almost anywhere. It’s the Reel’s sound as posted, voice and music together.

Can I use the music from a Reel in my own video?

Usually not. Music in Reels is licensed to play inside Instagram, and reusing it elsewhere can infringe the rights of the artist and the label. To use a song in your own Reel, add it from Instagram’s audio library while you edit.

Do Reels longer than 3 minutes work?

Yes, for downloading: length doesn’t matter there.

Does the file have the Instagram watermark?

The file is the same one Instagram uses to play the Reel, with nothing added by PegaClip. The watermark appears on copies saved with the download option inside the Instagram app.

Can I repost someone else's Reel?

Only with the creator’s permission, and with credit in the caption. Without permission, the creator can report the repost and Instagram may take it down. The music may also not be licensed for your account.
