How to download Instagram videos on a PC or Mac

Updated on October 18, 2026

On a computer, you don’t need to install a program or an extension. The site works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on Windows and Mac. The file goes to your Downloads folder, like any other browser download.

Step by step

  1. Open the post on Instagram. On instagram.com, click the Reel, video or photo until it opens on its own.
  2. Copy the link. Click the paper plane under the post and choose Copy link. You can also copy the address from the browser bar with Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on a Mac). The right link has /reel/ or /p/ in the middle.
  3. Paste it here. In another tab, open pegaclip.com.br, click Paste (or click the field and press Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac), then click Download.
  4. Pick the file. In Your files, click Download video, Download photo or Download audio. For a carousel, Download all saves every file in the post as one .zip.

The first time you click Paste, the browser may ask whether the site can read what you copied. If you’d rather not allow it, paste with the keyboard.

Where the file goes

  • Windows: open File Explorer and click Downloads. In Chrome and Edge, Ctrl+J shows your download list with a shortcut to the folder.
  • Mac: open Finder and click Downloads, or press Option+Cmd+L.

The file name starts with instagram- followed by the post code, which is the part after /reel/ or /p/ in the link. In a carousel, each file gets a number at the end: -1, -2, -3. That keeps files from the same post together in the folder.

If your browser asks where to save, it’s set to ask on every download. Pick a folder and click Save.

Carousels: opening the .zip

A .zip is a compressed folder with the photos and videos from the post.

  • Windows: right-click the .zip, choose Extract All, then Extract. A folder with the files opens.
  • Mac: double-click the .zip. Your Mac creates a folder with the files next to it.

You can also download only the files you want: every photo and video has its own button in the list.

Opening the video and the audio

Videos are MP4 files, which play in the player that comes with Windows and in QuickTime on a Mac. If your computer won’t open one, the free VLC player opens almost any format. Audio comes as MP3 and plays anywhere.

Instagram asks you to log in

On a computer, Instagram sometimes asks you to log in to keep browsing, even on public profiles. The site doesn’t need your account, only the link. If you don’t want to log in, copy the link on your phone and send it to your computer, for example by email or WhatsApp Web. A link someone sent you works too.

Common problems

  • The site says it’s a profile link. You copied the account page. Open the post before copying. The guide how to copy an Instagram link shows where each button is.
  • The links expired. Download links last about 15 minutes. Click Get new links and download right away.
  • The download stops halfway. It’s almost always the connection. Try again; if more than 15 minutes have passed, get new links.
  • The post won’t open. If it only shows after you log in, it’s from a private account, and the site can’t download it. For other messages, see Instagram video won’t download.

FAQ

Do I need to install a program or extension?

No. Everything happens in the browser, and the file downloads like any other.

What quality is the video?

Whatever Instagram serves for that post. When there are two versions, the list shows both, with the resolution and size of each.

I want the video on my phone. Should I download it on my PC first?

You can, but downloading straight to your phone is faster. See the guides for iPhone and Android.

Does the site keep a copy of what I download?

No. The file goes straight to your computer, with no copy on our server.
