How to copy an Instagram video link

Updated on October 18, 2026

To download a video, the site needs the link to that post. The profile link of whoever posted it won’t work, and neither will the account name. The quickest way is to open the video in the Instagram app and use the share button, which has a Copy link option.

On your phone: iPhone or Android

  1. Open the video. Tap the Reel, video or photo you want until it fills the screen. The link only comes out right with the post open.
  2. Tap the paper plane. It’s the share icon. On a Reel, it sits in the column of icons on the right. In the feed, it’s under the photo or video, next to the heart and the comment bubble.
  3. Tap Copy link. It’s in the bottom row of the menu that opens. The app shows a short notice that the link was copied.
  4. Go back to the site and tap Paste. The search starts on its own. The first time, your phone may ask for permission to paste: tap Allow or Paste.

If your browser won’t let the site read what you copied, press and hold the link field and choose Paste from the menu that appears. Then tap Download.

On a computer

Instagram in the browser also has the paper plane under each post. Click it and choose Copy link.

Another way is to open the post on its own: click the photo or video until it opens in its own window and copy the address from the browser bar, with Ctrl+C on Windows or Cmd+C on a Mac. Then paste it into the site’s field with Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V) and click Download.

A post link has one of these parts in the middle:

Start of the linkWhat it is
instagram.com/reel/A Reel. It works.
instagram.com/p/A feed post: photo, video or carousel. It works.
instagram.com/tv/An older video. It works.
instagram.com/ and just the account nameThe profile. It won’t work: open a video before copying.
instagram.com/stories/A Story. Not supported.

The bit Instagram adds at the end, like ?igsh= and a string of letters, doesn’t get in the way. You don’t need to delete anything if you copied the link together with the post text either: the site finds the link inside the text.

When it still doesn’t work

  • The screen says it’s a profile link. You copied the account page, not a video. Go back to Instagram, open the video and copy its link.
  • The screen says it’s still the same link. Your phone still has the old link copied. Copy again, from the right video.
  • The screen says there’s no link copied. Copy link didn’t go through, or you copied an image. Repeat step 3 and wait for the notice that the link was copied.
  • The post is from a private account. If the profile shows a padlock, or the post only opens after you log in, it can’t be downloaded here. The site only works with public posts.

With the right link in the field, the Your files list shows a button for each file in the post. The next steps are on the page to download Instagram videos.
