Screen readers read these letters oddly, and older devices may show a box instead of some of them. Use them in your name, bio and highlights, not for whole captions.

How to use Instagram fonts in 3 steps

  1. Type your text

Write your name, your bio or the phrase you want to stand out. The styles show up right below, with your text.

  2. Tap Copy

Pick the style you like best and tap Copy next to it.

  3. Paste it on Instagram

In the app, open Edit profile and paste it into your bio or name. It also works in captions, comments and Stories.

Before saving your bio, check that it fits the 150-character limit. The character counter shows how much room is left.

Where fancy letters work

PlaceWorks?
Name (shown in bold on your profile)Yes
BioYes
Post and Reel captionsYes
CommentsYes
Story textYes
Username (@)No: only regular letters, numbers, periods and underscores

The same text works on WhatsApp, TikTok, X and other apps, because what you copy is characters, not an image.

How it works

Unicode, the standard every phone uses to show text, includes whole alphabets drawn as bold, italic, script, gothic and outline. They were made for math and science formulas, but any app that shows text can display them. The tool swaps each regular letter for the matching letter in the style you pick.

Some letters in these alphabets already existed in another Unicode block, like script โ€œโ„‹โ€ and outline โ€œโ„‚โ€. The tool uses the right letter in each case, so you donโ€™t get an empty box instead.

The circles, wide and small caps styles use other letter sets. Strikethrough and underline keep regular letters and add a line over each one.

Tips for a bio that looks good and stays readable

  • Highlight, donโ€™t style everything. Use a style for your name or a short title in your bio, and keep the rest in regular letters. Itโ€™s easier to read and to find.
  • Prefer bold and sans for what matters. They show up on the most devices.
  • Test on your phone after pasting. If you see a box, switch styles.
  • Think about screen reader users. Screen readers, used by blind and low-vision people, read these letters oddly, sometimes letter by letter. Avoid them for essential details like a phone number, address or price.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a font?

Not exactly. These are letters from other Unicode alphabets that are drawn as bold, script or gothic. Thatโ€™s why they work when you paste them into any app, with nothing to install.

How many styles are there?

16: bold, italic, bold italic, script, bold script, gothic, bold gothic, outline, bold sans, italic sans, typewriter, circles, wide, small caps, strikethrough and underline.

Can I use it in my username (@)?

No. Usernames only accept regular letters, numbers, periods and underscores. Fancy letters work in the Name field, your bio, captions, comments and Stories.

Do accented letters work?

Yes. The accent is placed on the letter in the new style. It looks right on most phones; on older devices it may sit slightly off.

Why do I see a box instead of a letter?

The viewerโ€™s device doesnโ€™t have that character. It happens more on older phones and computers. Bold, italic and sans styles show up on the most devices.

Does it affect Instagram search?

It can. Search looks for names in regular letters, and a name written entirely in fancy letters may not be found. One option is to keep your name in regular letters and use a style only for part of your bio, like a title.

Does it work on WhatsApp and TikTok?

Yes. What you copy is plain text, which you can paste into any app or site that supports Unicode, like WhatsApp, TikTok and X.

Does the site keep what I type?

No. The conversion happens in your browser. Your text never reaches our server.
