Free, no sign-up, and no copy kept on our server.
How to download Instagram audio in 3 steps
Copy the Reel link
In the Instagram app, open the Reel or video, tap the paper plane (Share), then Copy link.
Tap Paste
The search starts on its own. You can also paste the link into the field and tap Download.
Tap Download audio
The button shows the MP3 format and the length. The file downloads right away.
The right link has /reel/ or /p/ in the middle. The same result also has Download video, if you want the whole video.
What audio-only is good for
- Listening again: a class, a recipe walkthrough, an interview or a video podcast, with your screen off.
- Editing: bringing the sound into a video or audio editor to cut a clip or build something of your own.
- Keeping: audio that matters to you, like a family member’s message in a Reel.
In a carousel with several videos, each video with sound has its own audio button, with the video’s number. In a photo post with music, the button shows up when Instagram serves the music with it.
Where the MP3 goes
- iPhone: in the Files app, in the Downloads folder. The Photos app doesn’t keep audio.
- Android: in the Download folder, in your phone’s file manager.
- Computer: in the Downloads folder.
The file name starts with instagram- followed by the post code. The guide how to save the audio from an Instagram Reel shows the steps on each device and what to do with the file.
Where the file goes
Each device saves it in a different place. On iPhone, the file goes to the Files app, not to Photos.

Music has an owner
Many Reels use commercial songs. The MP3 includes the song, but not a license to use it.
- Listening or studying, without posting it, is personal use.
- In your own Reel, pick the sound from Instagram’s own library, which is licensed for that. Music added from outside may be muted or get your video removed.
- Anywhere else, like a YouTube video or an ad, you need permission from whoever owns the rights.
Talks, classes and original sounds have authors too. To post them again, ask for permission and give credit. Rights holders can ask for content to be blocked on the removal page.
When the audio won’t download
- There’s no Download audio button. The post has no sound that Instagram serves, like a photo without music.
- The links expired. Links last about 15 minutes. Tap Get new links.
- The post won’t open. Private account, deleted post, or a profile or Story link. See Instagram video won’t download for each message.
Frequently asked questions
What format is the audio?
MP3, which plays on any phone, computer or editor. It’s the same sound Instagram serves with the video, converted to MP3.
Where does the MP3 go on iPhone?
To the Files app, in the Downloads folder. The Photos app doesn’t keep audio, so the file stays in Files, where you can play it or open it in an editor.
Can I get the audio from a photo post with music?
When Instagram serves the music with the photos, the list shows a Download audio button. If it doesn’t show up, that post has no audio that can be downloaded.
What about audio from a Story?
No. The site only works with Reels and public feed posts.
Can I use the song in my own video?
The MP3 includes the song, but not a license to use it. In your own Reel, pick the sound from Instagram’s library. Anywhere else, you need permission from whoever owns the rights.
Can I download the audio on a computer?
Yes. Copy the post link on instagram.com, paste it here and click Download audio. The MP3 goes to your Downloads folder.
Does the site keep the audio I download?
No. The file is converted on the spot and goes straight to your device. No copy is kept on our server.
How is this different from Instagram's Save audio?
Save audio keeps the sound in your account so you can use it in your Reels inside the app. It doesn’t create a file on your phone. Here you get the MP3 file.
